XVI Bars Launch

Here is the vision for the XVI Bars Programme. See below the exciting opportunities we have in store, and how you can help.
Picture

DEAR POTENTIAL SPONSORS/FUNDING ORGANISATIONS,

In today's market, young, innovative & creative artists are a most valuable asset. Nothing supports a visual brand more effectively than high-quality professional services - especially virtual and media services.

Visual storytelling is a powerful tool that is often underestimated yet widely and
unconsciously admired by us all. We are all consumers simply through our everyday experiences.  Television networks have the "on air" market cornered, but the online market has only just begun, and it is thriving! Our daily lives are more visual, fast-paced, and we are bombarded with an overload of information. We like to know how service providers and suppliers operate, or how something is designed.

The traditional culture of business-customer relationships has changed - things are more personal now.  The growing necessity of internet/users has broken barriers, and opened new doors of opportunity so much so, that we (consumers) have difficulty accepting less. The good news is, our young people have mastered this 'new' strategy, and for most it's their way of life.  Sadly, many are completely oblivious to this ability - this everyday marketing ART, and they still crave opportunities to connect to the 'outside world'. Most don't recognise this gift as a potential tool they are naturally equipped with, that could be utilised to create revenue for themselves.

In addition to the group of young people mentioned earlier, there are those who love art and pursue it in any way they know how. Some take short courses, some attend university for full Arts-based Degrees, while others independently and desperately seek opportunities for any form of artistic release or "self expression".  We engage both of these groups regularly at our recording studio, LEAP Studios. They enter our doors desperately looking to share something personal, something birthed from a creative mind and they're ready to unleash. Many are in exploration mode and without any plans, simply enjoying the "now". They're just looking to steal a moment in time where art...in the form of music can be expressed.

When we began teaching Media Arts, Video Production, and Music Production, we quickly encountered an even greater demand for a place to develop and harness these special people loaded with so much artistic potential.

In speaking with students we encountered via our training programmes, it became very evident how clueless they were about the potential that ART could bring to their lives from a career perspective. Most had no idea it could be anything more than a hobby, or the extreme opposite - having seriously unrealistic goals with no action or plan to support their ambitions. That's where XVI Bars comes in.

Through the XVI Bars Programme we are creating an ARTS-based HUB where young aspiring artists of all areas can come to get direct training from industry professionals that support their area of interest. These industry professionals represent a wide range of ARTS-based careers, and our students will be able to "work shadow" and earn money from servicing REAL clients. The ultimate goal is to have the entire establishment operated and managed by young creatives who regularly produce art related work on behalf of their clients.

The participants/students of XVI Bars will primarily consist of college and university students or graduates, and also students seeking exposure and insight into potential career opportunities. When organisations and businesses require professional services in photography, video, social media advertisements, recording services, radio ads, graphic design services etc., the XVI Bars Crew will have it covered!

We will start by marketing our services to charities, non-profit organisations and small businesses with lower marketing budgets. Our products and services will be priced strategically lower than market price to attract potential clients and encourage them to utilise our students for their services. This is specifically designed for the purpose of keeping the work demand up to support our ongoing training and experience programmes.

Our young artists will finally be able to show the world who they are by;
-Establishing solid business relationships
-Learning and developing professionalism
-Growing to be more independent
-Mastering team building and management
-And most importantly, discovering their true potential as artists within the industry.

We look forward to discussing this proposal with you further.

Sincerely,

Dwight & Shelita Jones
Owners & Founders of LEAP Studios & XVI Bars

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

SECURING FUNDING IS ONLY THE START. WE ALSO NEED TO:
  • Based on funding received, we need to secure and lease a building to host the programme.
  • Finalise our XVI Bars team members (funding dependent)
  • Arrange meetings and build trustworthy relationships with organisations and businesses to secure clients for our students. (This process has started and will be ongoing)
  • Secure professional advisers in a wide range of areas for the training and work experience delivered by XVI Bars. Each professional will only be required to pay a very low "desk fee". They will continue doing their business as usual, but from the XVI Bars location,  in a modern shared workspace.
  • Recruit our programme participants.
  • Get more sponsors on board. This is an expensive programme to operate and support will determine its success.
  • Get to know the value each student brings to the organisation and begin to build teams.
  • Log data regularly and document progress for the duration of the programme.

MEET THE CREW : )

LEAP Studios is already equipped with a great team, however, we are growing. We are currently in the process of finalising our team for XVI Bars. These decisions are dependent on available funding, so we are making agreements in principle at the moment. Here are a few of our current team members.

DWIGHT JONES, CO-FOUNDER, DIRECTOR & CHIEF ENGINEER
Dwight Jones otherwise known as "D-Major" is a well known producer, singer, engineer, and musician from Bermuda. He has over 35 years experience in recording studio/music production, live sound engineering and marketing & advertising . He has received numerous awards in Bermuda as a singer and a producer, and has represented Bermuda twice in international song competitions. Over the past several years his focus has been on producing other artists, such as LitaMarie, Geneman, Junior C, Will B, Whopper Benz, Princess Black, Septimus, Dae Starr, Nova, Mainy Rankins, and countless other independent artists.
After moving to Leicester in 2015, he and his wife, singer-songwriter LitaMarie, co-founded L.E.A.P. (Leicester Entertainment Arts & Performance). As Director, and Creative Director respectively, the duo intend to give young creatives a fair chance at real opportunities, and help them to develop their natural gifts as they pursue their dreams.

Picture
SHELITA JONES, CO-FOUNDER & CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Singer, Songwriter, Artist, Shelita Jones (LitaMarie) is the Creative Director, and co-founder of L.E.A.P. along with her husband Dwight Jones.
Though she has performed quite a bit; including opening up for a variety of Mainstream Artists, her passion and love for music comes to light in her songwriting. But in addition to her musical gifts, Shelita is also a lover of all things ART & Creative. She is a freelance graphic design artist and also has a passion for interior design. She is sought after by friends and family whenever they are about to embark on another interior design project. Her love for architecture is also evident when she can be seen in her "zone" creating beautiful building designs and drawing out plans just for the love of it.
One thing unique and not widely known about Shelita, is that she is Autistic. In addition to being autistic, she is the mother to four beautiful kids; two of them also diagnosed with autism. All four of her children have various diagnosis that make parenting challenging from ADHD to Tourette's Syndrome to Dyslexia. But she describes her experience as interesting, rewarding and in many cases fun. Because of her personal struggles and her innovative creative ways implemented to raise her children, she has a passion to see others who may be viewed as "different", discover ways to cope. Art & Music have such a great track record - which she is a living testimony to, she simply cannot keep these tools to herself.

MIZ TERRELL, PROGRAMME & TEAM MANAGER
With a background in Choir Solos & schooled in the Cornet/Trumpet, Violin & Snare Drum, this is just a taste of the influences that have shaped Miz musically.
Growing up in a family with a Dad who was a Northern Soul DJ, gave Miz access to a huge vinyl collection of primarily Culturely Black music. This created a very diverse musical taste in Miz, that centred around Soul, Jazz, Funk and Rhythm & Blues. Because of this early education, Miz’s friends often refer to Her as the ‘Musical Dictionary’ as there was never a song lyric she didn’t know or melody she couldn’t identify. Our Creative Director, Shelita Jones personally refers to her as a walking Jukebox.
Since joining LEAP, Miz has become an integral part of their team as well as developing herself as an artist. Dwight has been working closely with Miz to hone her Music Production skills and further development as an Artist. Miz has also been responsible for assisting LEAP’s Creative Team as a Graphic Designer & Creative, by providing filming and media consultation under Her Designer guise ‘MiZWiZ’. She has played a crucial role in their current training programmes and has proven to have a niche for training young people as well as the elderly.

TROY ANTHONY, TEAM MANAGER & PERFORMANCE COACH
Troy Anthony is a Gospel Reggae Recording Artist and Producer and is well-known within the the Gospel Reggae community. He works alongside Dwight Jones in production of reggae music and artist development.
Troy Anthony has performed around the world and understands what it means to develop and master your craft. It's not just about standing in a recording booth and laying down vocals. It's about selling the story and the experience to the listeners. Troy is passionate about performance and believes anyone can learn how to perform. Troy, like the rest of the team, has a passion for "the youth" as he calls them. You would often hear him say, "Young people just need that support and guidance". It is his commitment to see every young person succeed that makes him a vital team member for LEAP Studios and the XVI Bars programme.

Testimonials

Picture
"My first experience working with LEAP Studios was as a participant in one of their Media Training Programmes. While in the programme I was exposed to various forms of media - I especially liked the area of Video Production because I had already began to learn Video Production on my own. It was great to be a member of the 'team', and I found it very easy to learn in their relaxed, hands-on environment. Since then I have grown creatively, and I have joined their training team as a Junior Producer/Director within Video Production and Support."
